Young Changemakers for Circular Local Economy – International training for youth workers in Romania!

Within the KA2 Erasmus+ project of “You-Cycle”, focusing on the promotion and awareness raising of the circular economy, YouthProaktiv participated in an international training program for youth workers as expert partner in Cluj Napoca, Romania, in collaboration with the Erasmus partners: Espacio Geranios EG from Spain ( coordinating organization of the project), the Institute for Research in Circular Economy and Environment, Ernest Lupan” from Romania (IRCEM, hosting organization of the training), Entergrasyon Derneği EIG from Turkey, and Entrepreneurship and Social Economy Group EKO from Greece.

The international training started with a focus on team building and introducing the concept of sustainability, including discussions on circular economy practices. Throughout the week, participants had the opportunity to explore various social enterprises firsthand. They visited the Food Bank in Cluj-Napoca to understand its operations and impact on the community. Additionally, the group toured a social business, Cofeels, where they enjoyed coffee and engaged in meaningful discussions. They also experienced the workings of a circular textile business, Atelier Atipic, and indulged in treats from Antonino’s Pizza. Beyond these visits, the participants greatly benefited from learning from one another, and seeing how each other is implementing circular economy in their life. The group learned about food waste, circular economy practices, businesses, and also about social entrepreneurship, as well as engage in discussions on zero waste initiatives and how to reduce the carbon footprint. They also worked on creating audio-visual content to spread awareness of sustainability issues. The training concluded with workshops on circular economy, design thinking, and social enterprise, with guest speakers sharing their experiences and insights. Participants also had the opportunity to network, share feedback, and plan future collaborations. It inspired them to think creatively and strategically about how they can contribute to a more sustainable and equitable future. The training not only provided knowledge and skills but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose among participants. It was a truly enriching and transformative experience that left everyone feeling motivated and inspired to continue their journey towards creating a more sustainable world. The training was a huge success, with all participants leaving with new knowledge, skills, and inspiration to make a positive impact in their communities. The connections made during the training will surely lead to future collaborations and projects that will continue to promote sustainability and social entrepreneurship.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work with such dedicated and passionate individuals, and we look forward to seeing the positive changes they will bring about in the world. Thank you to all our partners and participants for making this training a truly unforgettable experience.
