DOIT project meeting in Billund!

YouthProAktiv is a proud partner in the project DOIT (Digital fabrication and making for social innovators), a large and ambitious initiative connecting partner organisations from 10 European countries.

With the three-year project still in its early stages, careful planning, brainstorming and decision-making form a large part of current efforts, just as much as sharing of ideas, enhancing of stakeholders’ understanding of the DOIT concept and the individual partners through reflection and collaborative activities, and building a strong community of dedicated professionals whose expertise and passion will help enhance social innovation, entrepreneurial skills and maker education and benefit children and young people as well as educators and other stakeholders across Europe.

On 12–15 March, staff from the partner organisations as well as other relevant stakeholders attended the second project meeting in Billund, Denmark, building on the outcomes of the kick-off meeting in Amsterdam in October 2017 and the regular partner communication and intensive collaborative work over the past six months. The four-day event was hosted by the Capital of Children, one of the project partners, and included two days of project meetings followed by two practice partner days with a focus on peer-to-peer learning and co-creation in the upcoming national pilots with children and young people. The programme allowed for rich exchange of ideas and experience between the diverse group of partners and also practical exploration of the concepts relevant to the project. This included two visits to LEGO Idea House in Billund, where we not only got the chance to learn more about their work with children, educational approaches and research but also experience first-hand practical learning through play in a makerspace setting.

The four days were productive, enjoyable and enriching, and we are looking forward to continued collaboration with the inspiring group of people in DOIT, contributing to the success of the project.
