LUNCH DEBATE: Very High Capacity Connectivity for future services

On the October 8th,  European Internet Forum hosted a lunch debate on topic “Very High Capacity Connectivity for future services.”

The speakers, Anthony Whelan (Director for Electronic Communication Networks and Services, DG CONNECT, EC), Kyle Whitehill (CEO of Avanti Communications), Lise Fuhr (Director General, ETNO), Darko Ratkaj (Senior Project Manager, EBU) and Christof Sommerberg (Head of Regulation and Public Affairs, DEUTSCHE GLASFASER ) discussed possibilities, the importance and challenges that Quantum technologies, IIoT, AI and the high performance of 5G network brings.

Very High Capacity Connectivity networks are becoming a reality in the EU but with stark differences across the Union’s Member States for various reasons. Implementation of the Code, spectrum, deployment cost, digital divide and investment capacity remain key issues affecting the realization of this important EU Goal.

Those goals include ubiquitous connectivity and delivering high performance 5G through a Network of Networks to power vertical industries to unleash new applications and services that promise to transform the lives of EU citizens and businesses. Quantum technologies, IIoT and AI are part of the future but not without challenges. This lunch also debated points of  5G network such us: Spectrum side, Security and Sustainability.
