“A transatlantic perspective on Women in Entrepreneurship: success stories and challenges”

On January 30, 2018, YouthProAktiv the debate on women & entrepreneurship organized by the EYIF (European Young Innovators Forum), the EP (European Parliament) and The United States Missions to the European Union. The focus of the event was to continue, in Europe, the discussion from the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), held in Hyderabad on 28-30 November 2017, on how can economic growth be risen by supporting women entrepreneurs.

The president of EYIF Mr. Nicholas Zylberglajt welcomed the participants by highlighting tips and successful stories of how women in entrepreneurship can be promoted around the world. Ms. Christina Tomlinson, Minister Counselor for Public Affairs at the United States Mission to the European Union showcased the good example of the USA currently having the highest index on women entrepreneurship in the world. She was supported by Ms. Itxaso Del Palacio Aguirre, Investment Partner at Microsoft Ventures, that brought the statistics to the table showing how women received receive 2% of venture funding, while own 38% of the businesses in the country.

Other inspiring CEOs/Co-founders such us Ms. Emerald de Leeuw, CEO of Eurocomply, Rashmi Sinha (CEO and Co-founder, SlideShare) or Jennifer Pahlka (founder,  Code for America), were sharing their success stories and challenges, how they achieved performance, what kind of challenges did they come across with and which steps to take on order to overcome them.
