MAKER EDUCATION: FROM NON-FORMAL TO FORMAL EDUCATION
Date: 25 March 2020, 15:00-17:00

Makerspaces offer something that traditional classes are lacking! They provide children with a collaborative educational space for making, learning and exploring!
Within Europe, makerspaces, hackerspaces and fablabs are becoming increasingly popular as an extra-curricula activity and more and more opportunities to make them part of compulsory education are arising! What are their benefits, opportunities and challenges?
With the collaboration of MEP Mikuláš Peksa, the conference will briefly introduce the achievements and results of the DOIT project, as well as the main findings of a European Commission’s report titled “Makerspaces for Education and Training: Exploring Future Implications for Europe”. On the basis of the results presented, we will host a roundtable aiming at exploring the opportunities and challenges offered by maker education.
NEW SKILLS FOR AN EVER MORE DIGITAL WORLD
Date: 26 March 2020, 10:30-12:30
Registration is mandatory: Please register here
All over the world, digitalization and technological tools are becoming an increasingly significant part of the everyday life of every citizen! An ever more digital world calls for the development of new digital skills! Are young generations ready to face these challenges? What are the necessary educational updates needed in this fast-changing environment?
With the collaboration of MEP Claudia Gamon, the conference will introduce the main findings of a OECD’s report titled “Skills Outlook 2019” and possible updates for the European Commission “Digital Education Plan” will be discussed. On the basis of the two keynote speeches, we will host a roundtable aiming at examining what are the new skills necessary for preparing the youth to succeed in today’s digitalized world! The discussion will benefit from the perspective of different stakeholders from the education sector, industry, civil society and policy-making representatives.
